Interregional Conference for < Sustainability in the Built Environment II >

University of Rouen
23-25 May 2005

The Centre for Sustainability of the Built Environment will be holding the second of its interregional conferences at the University of Rouen, France from 23 rd-25 th May 2005. The first conference held in September 2004 at the University of Brighton attracted over 100 delegates and was well received. The Brighton Conference proceedings are available at the Durabuild website, or on CD-Rom on request.

The upcoming conference aims to further establish links between key players working towards Sustainability of the Built Environment at regional and local levels both in France and the UK and reports on more case studies undertaken by the project team along with guest speakers from industry and key organisations. Those who did not attend the previous conference are more than welcome to attend the second conference which will continue to provide the opportunity for designers, contractors, manufacturers, academics, building owners and users to meet and to discuss issues related to reducing the environmental impact of our buildings.

There will again be an exhibition of products and services and an opportunity to network with others seeking to develop best practice for sustainability of the built environment.

Both conferences are of the deliverables of durabuild our EU funded programme in collaboration with the University of Rouen, the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and its French counterparts the AICVF.

Conference sessions will include presentations from French and UK experts and be accompanied by simultaneous translation. Day one will be led by national, regional and local experts identifying current activities towards Sustainability in the Built Environment and day two will focus on specific aspects of good practice under the key headings of Energy, Materials and Health. Day three will consist of site visits to view local examples of good practice within Haute Normandie.
